Enrollment & Registration

What ages do you accept at Barbara's Babies?
We provide care for children from birth to 3 years old, with specialized programs for both infants (0-18 months) and toddlers (18-36 months).
Is there a waiting list for enrollment?
Yes, when we reach capacity, we maintain a waiting list. Priority is given to siblings of currently enrolled children. We recommend applying early, as spaces fill quickly.
What documents do I need to enroll my child?
You'll need to complete our enrollment form, registration form, tuition agreement, handbook acknowledgment, USDA food program forms, and provide proof of immunizations.
Do you accept childcare subsidies?
Yes, we work with the State-Sponsored Childcare Assistance Program. Families are responsible for any portion not covered by their assistance program.

Daily Care & Education

What is your staff-to-child ratio?
We maintain low ratios to ensure quality care. Our current ratio for infants is 1:4 and for toddlers is 1:6, allowing us to provide personalized attention to each child.
What does a typical day look like at Barbara's Babies?
Our day follows a consistent routine that includes:
  • Morning arrival and breakfast (6:30-9:15 AM)
  • Circle time and small group activities (9:30-10:30 AM)
  • Outdoor play or music, and movement (weather permitting)
  • Lunch and rest time (11:30 AM-2:45 PM)
  • Afternoon snack and free choice activities until pickup
How do you handle nap time?
We provide a quiet, dimly lit environment for naps after lunch. Each child has their own designated sleeping space. Infants sleep according to their individual schedules.
What curriculum do you follow?
We follow the Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers with a theme-based approach that aligns with Nevada Pre-K Standards and QRIS 5-Star Rating requirements.
How do you communicate with parents about their child's day?
We provide daily updates through our parent communication app, sharing information about meals, naps, activities, and any special moments from your child's day, including photos and videos.

Health & Safety

What are your illness policies?
Children must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to care. This includes being fever-free (under 100.4°), and free from vomiting, diarrhea, or other contagious symptoms.
How do you handle allergies and dietary restrictions?
We are a nut-free facility. For other allergies or restrictions, we require documentation from a physician and work with families to accommodate special needs safely.
What safety measures do you have in place?
Our home is specially designed for childcare with safety features including secured cabinets, covered outlets, gated areas, regular safety drills, and staff trained in CPR and First Aid.
How do you screen your staff?
All staff undergo comprehensive background checks, TB testing, and have required early childhood education credentials. They also participate in ongoing professional development.

What is meant by "faith-based" childcare?
As a faith-based program, we incorporate Christian values of kindness, compassion, and gratitude into our daily activities. We welcome families of all faiths and backgrounds.
Do you provide meals?
Yes, we participate in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program and provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks daily. Menus are posted weekly.
What is your discipline policy?
We use positive guidance techniques focused on redirection, modeling appropriate behavior, and helping children develop self-regulation skills. We believe discipline means teaching, not punishment.
Do you offer part-time options?
Yes, we offer 3-day and 4-day scheduling options based on availability. Full-time (5-day) enrollment receives priority.

Where are you located?
Barbara's Babies is located at 3117 Piedmont Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89102, in a residential neighborhood that provides a home-like environment.
What are your hours?
We're open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM to accommodate working parents' schedules.
Do you close for holidays?
Yes, we observe major holidays including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and the day after), and Christmas. A full holiday schedule is provided in our parent handbook.

Expansion Plans

I heard you're expanding. What does that mean for current families?
Our expansion from a Family, Friend & Neighbor (FFN) home to a licensed group family childcare home will allow us to serve more families while maintaining our high standards of care. Current families will continue to receive the same personalized attention they've come to expect from Barbara's Babies.
